Partners Of Kasdan Simonds Weber & Vaughan Law Firm Slated To Speak At Key Construction Defect Seminar

MARINA DEL REY -- Ken Kasdan, Senior & Managing Partner, and Barry Vaughan, Partner, of the Kasdan Simonds Weber & Vaughan law firm, are scheduled to be speakers at the Construction Litigation Leaders’ Forum sponsored by HB Litigation Conferences in Marina del Rey.

The forum is being held Thursday and Friday, March 3-4, and will include many of the nation’s top litigators, mediators, experts, and judiciary who are framing construction defect litigation. Topics include an in-house counsel roundtable, an experts panel, a judicial roundtable, sessions on both defect and coverage issues, and an ethics session.

Mr. Kasdan will be speaking Thursday, March 3, from 8:15 a.m.-8:45 a.m. on a lead panel addressing defect claims in the current economic environment, the role of case selection in today’s legal climate, and what the future holds for defect litigation. Mr. Kasdan is also a chair of the national conference.

Mr. Vaughan’s panel will also be held Thursday 1:15 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and will discuss handling mixed and alternative claims including fraud and rescission, contractors licensing, alter egos (corporations and LLCs), new ways to structure a suit (piercing the corporate veil to find new defendants), and HOA governance and breach of fiduciary duty.

Barry Vaughan has been a partner of Kasdan Simonds Weber & Vaughan since 2001. He earned his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was on Law Review, after receiving his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Colorado. Barry was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987, and is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in California and Colorado, and before the United States Supreme Court. Barry is a member of the American Bar Association (Member: Litigation Section); State Bar Association of California (Member: Litigation Section); Orange County Bar Association (Member: Construction Defect Section); and San Bernardino County Bar Association.
